Head coach of Delta Queens, Clifford Chukwuma has said his side lost to a better and stronger team following their ouster from the Aiteo Cup.

Delta Queens suffered a slim 1-0 defeat to FC Robo Queens in the round of 32 of the competition on Wednesday at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium in Surulere.

Captain Esther Ndubisi volleyed home what proved to be the match winner on the 50th minute to ensure the Lagos-based club qualify for the round of 16.

A disappointed Chukwuma admitted that his players lacked the cutting edge in their attack and did not create much scoring chances when compared to their fleet-footed counterparts.

"It was very unfortunate for us to lose the Aiteo Cup round of 32 clash to the less experienced side, FC Robo Queens," he began on Supersport.com

"It was a bad day for the team, we did not click, the attack did not click throughout the encounter. We were not sharp in the attack.

"We created fewer chances and in a match of this magnitude, you can not win by creating nothing or fewer chances.

"He added: "FC Robo Queens were better and created more chances than us and ably deserved their hard-fought victory. They were more aggressive, getting and reaching to the ball first than us, I think generally on match-day they were better and stronger.

"Although we missed the services of four regular players but that's not an excuse, the replacements are supposed to fill the vaccum effectively and properly, too.

"I think we need to work very hard if we are to achieve anything substantial in our future endeavors especially the upcoming Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) Super Four championship in Benin City," Chukwuma concluded.

The Asaba Landladies will look to redeem their image when the NWPL Super Four begins; as they will confront Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons for the league title.
