According to the general secretary of Nigeria Football Federation, Mohammed Sanusi, Nigeria will take on England in a friendly match prior to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Nigeria who are set to feature in their sixth world cup finals in Russia next year, have been pitted alongside Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in Group D.
The English Football Association are yet to confirm Sanusi's claims of the proposed international friendly ahead of their opener against Tunisia at the global championship.
However, the NFF's scribe is optimistic that an agreement which will be reached for the two sides to meet for the third time at the senior level.
"We plan to play a friendly against England in June, before the World Cup," Sanusi said on
Skysports, adding that the venue and other details of the match were still to be worked out.
Nigeria's Super Eagles lost 1-0 to the Three Lions of England in a warm-up game in 1994 before the two sides settled for a scoreless draw in the 2002 World Cup.
