Henry Onyekuru have targeted an early comeback from injury after he tore his medial bond while playing for Anderlecht against KAS Eupen in the Belgian league.

Onyekuru will undergo a surgery which will rule him out of action for the rest of the season and could end his dreams of featuring in the 2018 FIFA World Cup with Nigeria.

But the 20 years old who has been capped twice by Nigeria, took to his verified Twitter handle to give a positive update about his injury.
The Nigerian striker had a stellar outing last term with former team Eupen which caught the attention of several clubs before he signed for Premier League side Everton.

He was immediately loaned out to Anderlecht where he has scored 19 goals across all competition for the Belgian outfit this campaign.

Meanwhile, coach of Super Eagles home-based squad Salisu Yusuf has backed Onyekuru to back stronger after the latest setback.

Yusuf hopes to see him back on his feet soon so he can challenge for a place in the Super Eagles team ahead of the World Cup.

"It will be nice to have him around before the World Cup," Yusuf is quoted saying on

"Henry is a strong character and I trust him to bounce back stronger after the surgery. It's always so sad for any player to go under the knife."
