The 2017-18 Hero Indian Women's League season will kick off on March 25 in Shillong following a successful completion of the inaugural edition last year.

The previous campaign saw the emergence of Eastern Sporting Union as champions of the IWL and they will begin their title defence against Indira Gandhi Academy for Sports & Education.

The league will be played with seven clubs facing each other, with the top four progressing to the semifinals scheduled for April 12, while the final holds on April 15, 2018.

2017-18 newcomers Gokolulam Kerala, the only side from I-League to have fielded a team in the IWL will face Rising Student Club of Odisha in their opening game.

KRYHPSA, India Rush Soccer Club, Sethu FC are the other participating teams who will jostle for the top prize when the women's domestic game begins.

With the first edition of the IWL held in Delhi early in 2017 hitting a massive viewership of over 8.5 million on AIFF's social media handles, the development and promotion of women's football remains the number one priority of the India Football Federation
