Super Falcons of Nigeria have maintained their number one spot in Africa in the latest FIFA Women's World football rankings.

The world rankings was released last Friday, June 22 and it sees Nigeria placed 38th globally, a position they retained as well.

The team recently qualified for the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana, where they will bid to defend their title won two years ago in Cameroon.

The Falcons under new coach Thomas Dennerby edged out the Queens Scorpion of Gambia 7-0 on aggregate during the AWCON qualifiers early this month.

Inaugural WAFU Women's Cup winners Ghana, Cameroon, South Africa and two-time AWCON champions Equatorial Guinea completes the line for the five best teams on the continent.
