Harambee Starlets of Kenya
Following the release of fixtures for the 2018 CECAFA Women Challenge Cup in Rwanda, Kenya have announced their provisional squad for the tournament.
The provisional squad which is comprised of 26 players named by head coach David Ouma, are expected to report to camp on July 7 in Nairobi for early preparations.
Making the list are players who featured for the Harambee Starlets in their 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they beat Uganda in the first round before losing to Equatorial Guinea in the final stage.
And they are Pauline Atieno, Wendy Achieng, Cheris Avilia, Teresa Engashe along with Lilian Adera and Esse Akida who were both on target against the Ugandan and Equatoguinean national teams.
While Thika Queens goalkeeper Monica Karambu, Elizabeth Wambui of Gaspo Youths and Trans-Nzoia Falcons forward Martha Amunyolete are the new faces in the team.
Kenya will be aiming to go one step further to winning the championship this time around, after playing in the final of the 2016 edition where they lost 2-1 to Tanzania.
This year's event will be contested by hosts Rwanda, reigning champions Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia from July 19 to 27 in a league format where the eventual winners will be determined.
