Venus Williams intends to keep playing for at least another two years, which will see her compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Williams who is the oldest player ranked in the WTA top 100, currently at number 14, will turn 40 years of age at the next summer Olympics.
The American whose career at the Olympics stretches back to Sydney 2000, hopes to add to her tally after revealing her ambition of making a sixth appearance in Tokyo.
"It’s my goal to take up another Olympic spot," Williams told reporters at a news conference in Washington.
"And it’s not a given. I have had a lot of tremendous opportunities at the Olympics. No one gives you anything. You go and you take it.
"It’s such a beautiful experience. I hope, God willing, I will be there and it will be another climax in my career."
She has enjoyed a medal-laden Olympics career after winning four golds and a silver, with sister Serena being the only other women's player to have won four gold medals in tennis.
The 38 years old has two years to prepare for the 2020 Games and has reiterated that she still have the desire win at the highest level.
"The winning never gets old in any form. It’s just addictive," she added.
