A Peace Efih's second half strike stood out as a consolatory goal as Nigeria exited the ongoing FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in France.

Nigeria's Falconets saw their World Cup campaign come to an end following a 2-1 loss to Spain in the quarter-finals on Thursday at Stade Guy-Piriou in Concarneau.

The Spaniards took a two-goal lead in the first half after Aitana Bonmati and Patri Guijarro found the net, which qualified the La Rojita to their first-ever semifinal at the cadet youth championship.

The Falconets who struggled to create many opportunities during the game, levelled on the hour-mark through Efih but were unable to get further goals as Spain held on to the vital win.

The Nigerian team managed to reach the last eight of the 16-team competition after losing 1-0 to Germany in her opener, which followed a victory over Haiti by the same scoreline before a 1-1 draw with China.
