One of Africa's flagbearer at the 2018 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup, Nigeria on Thursday landed in France with expectations of winning the title.

The country's U20 women's football team have been a household name at the biennial youth championship, however, they are yet to taste success.

The Falconets made their way into the final of the 2010 and 2014 editions, losing to perennial rivals Germany on both occasions but now, they want to take a step further by claiming gold this time around.

The team managed by coach Christopher Danjuma, held a two-week final camping in Tirol, Austria where they scored seven goals in defeating FC Bergheim and FC Wacker Innsbruck in friendlies.

Danjuma who led the Nigerian side during the continental qualifiers, last week named his final 21-player squad for the finals which consisted of 3 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 5 midfielders and 5 strikers.

They will open their campaign with a showdown encounter with three-times winners Germany before subsequent matches with debuntants Haiti and tricky China.

Nigeria who scored 23 goals on their way to France, boasts of joint-top scorer Rasheedat Ajibade, Anam Imo, captain Oluwakemi Famuditi and young goalie Chiamaka Nnadozie.

These group of young and talented players will be aiming to write their names on the history books of the country by becoming the first-set of lads to emerge champions of the U20 finals.
