Former France international, Thierry Henry has reportedly held discussions with Egypt Football Association regarding the vacant national team post.

Henry who was as an assistant to Belgium coach Roberto Martinez during this summer FIFA World Cup in Russia, is eyeing his first managerial role.

According to erstwhile Al Ahly and Zamalek goalkeeper, Nader El-Sayed, the 40-year-old Arsenal legend is being considered for the Pharaohs job following a meeting with EFA board member Hazem Emam.

"We had a meeting with Thierry Henry’s agent in London, and (EFA board member) Hazem Emam was present," El-Sayed tells local online media outlet King Fut

"Henry is waiting for the EFA’s project for the team before deciding on the offer, apart from the economic aspect."

The Frenchman was set to take over at Championship side Aston Villa last week before the club's new owners kept faith with current boss Steve Bruce.

Henry has coaching experience with Arsenal Football Club youth academy and has worked at Sky Sports before quitting his punditry role to pursue a full-time managerial post.

The Egypt job is available after the FA dismissed Hector Cuper following a winless World Cup outing, with defeats to Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia in Group A.
