FIFA today confirmed that Nigeria avoided a ban after the federal government agreed to stay away from football matters.

The global football organization whose rules prohibits external interference, last week threatened to suspend Nigeria from international soccer over government's intervention in the administration.

The threat came in the awake of a long-standing power tussle for leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) between Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa.

But according to a statement on its official website, FIFA confirmed that it has received assurance that the Pinnick-led NFF board have been reinstated at the glass house.

"FIFA received confirmations that the legitimate leadership of the NFF under President Amaju Melvin Pinnick and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi has been given back effective control of the NFF and its offices," the statement began.

"In view of these circumstances, FIFA deems that the conditions set by the decision of the Bureau of the FIFA Council have now been met and consequently the suspension of the NFF will not take effect.

"FIFA will continue to closely monitor the situation in order to ensure that FIFA's rules and regulations are fully adhere to," it ended.

The former Delta state FA boss, Pinnick was duly elected as head of Nigeria's soccer federal four years ago, an election that has been heavily contested by Chris Giwa who took the case to a court in Jos.

And after the Supreme Court ruled in his favour, Giwa, a football administrator, assumed office as NFF true president to the disapproval of FIFA.

He was, however, hit with a five-year ban by the world football governing body for breaching its code of ethics, a suspension he completely ignored.

Following the court's judgement, the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung later directed the football federation to comply with the judiciary ruling, a move FIFA did not agree to.

With the saga over, the Super Eagles of Nigeria can now resume camping ahead of a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles on September 7.
