Super Eagles of Nigeria today completed a double over Libya and move closer to qualifying for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after a 3-2 win at the Stade Taïeb Mhiri in Sfax, Tunisia.

Fresh from recording a 4-0 win in the reserve leg, Nigeria went in front after 13 minutes through Odion Ighalo who netted a hat-trick on Saturday at Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Moments later, Libya's Mediterranean Knights found themselves losing 2-0 to their Nigerian opponents courtesy of captain Ahmed Musa's goal from a beautiful counter attack.

Libya, however, staged a comeback fight and managed to reduce the deficit before the halftime break through Mohamed Zubya.

Rejuvenated after the recess, the Libyans grew in confidence and began to mount pressure on the Eagles, with Mohammed Abdussalam and Ahmad Benali working tirelessly for the equaliser.

Their efforts paid off when Italy-based Benali beat Nigerian goalkeeper Francis Uzoho with a low shot to make it a 2-2 affair after his defenders failed to clear their lines.

Saving his best for the last, Changchun Yatai of China skipper, Ighalo restored Nigeria's lead on the 81st minutes when he brilliantly controlled the ball before firing past keeper Ahmad Azzagh for the match winner.

Despite Libya's pressures in the dying minutes of the enthralling contest, Nigeria held their nerves to claiming the maximum points and the bragging rights.

After the results, Nigeria moved up to the first position in Group E with nine points, one ahead of South Africa who played a goalless draw with Seychelles earlier in the day, while Libya remained third with four points.
