Despite been held at home to a 1-1 draw by Olympique Medea this Friday, Algerian Ligue 1 giants Jeunesse Sportive de Kabylie remain on top of the league log with 19 points from nine games.

The Canaries are yet to register a defeat and have managed five wins and four draws so far. They hold the second best attack in the league with 14 goals and best defence with three goals conceded.

Nigeria international striker Uche Nwofor is not a stranger to the good performances in JS Kabylie, having joined the side this summer from Rivers United.

Despite missing the last two matches, the former Shooting Stars and Enugu Rangers forward is the joint topscorer of the team with three goals alongside Burundian Fiston Abdul Razak and Algerian midfielder Lyes Benyoucef.

Nwofor notably scored a brace on September 16, in a 5-0 away defeat of seven-time Ligue 1 winners Mouloudia Club d'Alger.

The former Powers Academy and Anambra graduate have previously evolved in Europe, mainly in the Netherlands' second-tier with VVV Venlo, but also had some stints in Belgium with SK Lierse, Boavista in Portugal and recently in the Slovak first division with FK ASTrencin, before coming back to Rivers United.

Being part of the Flying Eagles squad at the 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup in Colombia where he managed two goals in the 5-2 win over Croatia in the group stage.

Nwofor has turned out for Nigeria's Super Eagles in friendlies with South Africa on August 14, 2013 in Durban and Scotland on May, 28, 2014 in Craven Cottage, London, where he scored three goals in the process.

The Green and Yellow of Kabylie targets a 15th domestic title this season after their last one in 2008 and it will give them a place in the first round of the CAF Champions League, a competition they won twice in 1981 and 1990.

The team is coached by Franck Dumas who took over on the 12th of July 2018. The Frenchman was precedently in charge of Stade Malherbe de Caen and AC Arles Avignon in France Ligue 1. He also managed The Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea.

JS Kabylie was voted best Algerian Club of the 20th Century and is amongst the 10 African best football clubs.

Uche is set to feature in their next game this Tuesday when JSK welcome 14th-placed DRB Tadjenanet.
