Kenya women's national team today defeated visiting USA Division 1 side Lynch Burg FC 4-1 in an international friendly match at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Mwanahalima Adam led the way with a brace, coupled with goals from Tereza Engesha and Cheris Avillia as the Africans saw off their American opponents in a one-sided game.
Harambee Starlets took an early lead through Engesha who found the net with a well taken goal to the amazement of the coaching staffs and fans.
Their lead was increased by Adam after 22 minutes after been teed up by Starlets skipper Mary Kinuthia.
Moments later, the young striker who plays for Women Premier League club Mobamsa Olympic, scored her second goal with a solo effort.
Midfielder Avillia sealed the victory for Ann Alouch coached side on the 34th minute with a stunning long range shot from outside the 18-yard box.
Lynch, however, got a consolatory goal from Rudy Ally who received a through pass before curling the ball past Kenyan keeper Pauline Atieno, to put scores 4-1 in favour of the hosts at half time.
After the break, the Americans upped their game but could not get more goals despite creating a couple of opportunities and Harambee Starlets held on to their win after the second 45 minutes.
The match was Kenya's first outing after making their debut appearance of the Africa Women's Cup of Nations in Cameroon in 2016, where they failed to progress from the group stages.
