Coach Bala Nikyu has said his players are set for this weekend first round, second leg 2018 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup qualifying encounter against Ethiopia.
Nigeria secured a 1-1 draw in the reserve fixture played two weeks ago at the Addis Ababa Stadium after taking the lead through Joy Jerry in the opening minutes.
The hosts levelled when Tarikow Debiso curled home a fantastic free kick from 35-yard in the second half of the game played under a nail-biting cold weather where the Nigerians girls struggled to cope.
However, an upbeat Nikyu tells
www.thenff.com that the Flamingoes are prepared to match their Ethiopia opponents strength for strength in securing a place in the final stage of the continental qualifiers.
“We are much prepared even than we were for the first leg in Addis Ababa. Collectively, we have worked on the noted areas of weaknesses and we are good to go for Saturday in Benin."
The return leg tie will be contested at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo state at 4pm local time, with the overall winners advancing to next phase to take on either Cameroon or Algeria.
Meanwhile, the Ethiopian delegation yesterday arrived in the country's capital, Abuja and were immediately flown to Benin City; where the game is billed to take place.
