President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick have said there is still a lot of work to be done on the country's U17 women's football team, the Flamingoes.
Pinnick was one of the dignitaries seated at the V.I.P area of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City when Nigeria were forced to a goalless draw by Ethiopia.
Speaking to reporters after the game, the NFF boss asked the coaches not to relent on their efforts and appreciated the Edo state government for their supports to women's football.
"The coaches have a lot of work to do now that the team is in the final round, and they have some time to work on the squad. I believe they will what is necessary to turn the team around," he began.
"We will use this opportunity to appreciate the Edo State Government for their tremendous support for all our women teams.
Also on ground to address the media was the Chairman of the NFF Women's Football Committee, Ayo Omidiran who called for continuous support to the team despite the result.
"The coaches have some weeks at hand to do proper work with the girls and bring in others who can help the squad," Omidiran said.
"The performance today was not gratifying. But I plead with all Nigerians to continue to support all our women teams, including the U-17 girls."
Nigeria managed to set up a final round qualifier clash against Cameroon, with the winners after the home and away ties qualifying for the 2018 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in Uruguay.
