Former Super Eagles skipper Vincent Enyeama yesterday played his first match in over seven months as Lille U18 team defeated Croix 3-1 in the French fourth division.

Enyeama, 35, last featured for Lille in April 2017 when the senior team lost 2-0 to Rennes in a league game where he sustained a knee injury.

Having fought his way back to fitness after undergoing surgery, the Nigerian goalie wrote on Twitter to express his delight at returning to action.

"God has been so faithful.7 months and some weeks, God has taken me up. I had my 1st game. I want to thank everyone that worked for this day to happen. God bless you all," the tweet read.

There had been speculations in the media that the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner could play at next year's World Cup in Russia with Nigeria if he rescinds his decision to quit the national team.
