The Federation of International Basketball Associations has awarded Nigeria a wildcard to participate in the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Manila, Philippines.

The country's participation at event was made known through a letter sent to the Nigeria Basketball Federation which was signed by FIBA's 3x3 Development Manager, Robert Rieblinger.

The second edition of the competition is billed to take place between June 8-12 next year after France hosted the first in 2017 in Nantes.

The Nigerian 3x3 team skippered by Abdul Yahaya recently won their first FIBA Africa 3x3 Nations Cup title in Lome, Togo.

It will be the first time Nigeria who are rated 67th in the world and 5th in Africa, feature at the 3x3 World Cup since its inception.
