Coach Bala Nikyu has said he is not disappointed following Nigeria's 1-1 draw with Ethiopia in a 2018 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup qualifier last Sunday.
The Flamingoes played under an unfriendly weather at the Addis Ababa Stadium, went in front after 18 minutes through Joy Jerry but surrendered their lead in the second half.
Despite the result, Nikyu has refused to blame the weather condition for the performance of his players, while stating that his team will be prepared for their east Africa counterparts ahead of the return leg.
“The weather did not help but I don’t like to give excuses for my team’s performance. We have to work very hard when we return to Nigeria, ahead of the return leg. We must be more potent in attack and find a way to curtail the Ethiopians," he told thenff.com
The second round, second leg fixture will be played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo state on December 16 with the winners advancing to the final phase of the qualifying campaign to face either Cameroon or Algeria.
