Our target is to play in the final of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco, so said captain and goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Nigeria will be making her second appearance at the CAF organized football competition mainly for players on the continent since 2014 in South Africa where they finished third.

The Eagles are set to compete in the Super Six Tournament in Kano state alongside Plateau United, MFM FC, Akwa United, Enyimba FC and Kano Pillars as part of their preparations for the CHAN finals.

Ezenwa, a member of the senior national team, also said that the Nigerian side will go one step further to better its 2014 African Nations Championship achievement.

“The Super Six is a big tournament. It is a big target for us and part of our preparation for Morocco 2018," he tells www.thecable.ng

“It is an important phase for us ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN). We are capable of showing quality and overcoming the other teams participating in the tournament.”

“We need to start the competition on a sound footing in the opening match against Rwanda. Our target is the final. We want to surpass the record of the 2014 set that won Bronze medal in South Africa. It’s an achievable task.”

Nigeria will play 2014 champions Libya, Rwanda and Equatorial Guinea in the preliminary round of the CHAN tournament which starts on January 13th.
