A top official of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chris Green have said the NFF should be blamed for failure to reach an agreement with Randy Waldrum.
It is no longer news that Waldrum who was appointed technical adviser of Nigeria's Super Falcons in October has been named coach of the University of the Pittsburgh women's team.
The 61 years old was to succeed Florence Omagbemi after she got dismissed despite leading the Falcons to winning the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
However, Green explained the federation failed to contact the American after giving him the job and they are disappointed to lose out on another coach.
"He said in his letter [to us] that from when the [NFF] president gave him the job, they did not do anything or contact him any further," he said on
BBC Sport
"There are other things that are required like signing the contract itself, working conditions and all the basics that parties have to agree to - nothing was done.
"He was left in limbo and said he has to feed his family, but (we're) extremely disappointed that we've lost out on another coach."
This development comes as a setback to the Super Falcons who are yet to regroup in camp or play together since their AWCON success a year ago.
And for the football federation, this is the second time a foreigner has turned down their offer after France's Paul Le Guen rejected the opportunity to handle the Super Eagles in July 2016.
