Nasarawa Amazons defender Mary Ibadin and Robo Queens coach Emmanuel Osahon will be honoured by the Edo State Football Association for their contributions to the development of sports in the state.

Ibadin was instrumental for the team at the Super Four event in Benin City, which saw Nasarawa winning their second Nigeria Women Football League title since 2013, having finished as runners-up on three occasions.

She will be recognized as the Women's Player of the Year in the event billed for Friday, December 22 in the state capital.


Osahon who is credited to the discovering of one of Africa's biggest female footballer Asisat Oshoala, will receive the Coach of the Year (women) Award.

The 40-year-old is known for unearthing talented players and nurturing them into future stars, who go on to represent the country on the world stages.

Other sports personalities to be rewarded are Super Eagles China-based striker Odion Ighalo who gets the Edo Footballer of the Year gong.

Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki will pick up the Football Merit Award, while the Football Personality of the Year top prize goes to his deputy Philip Shaibu.

Enugu Rangers International midfielder Osas Okoro will go home with the Men's Player of the Year recognition, with Johnbull Egharevba of Dynamite FC listed for the Coach of the Year prize (men's category).

Monday Odigie and Christopher Kadiri are listed for the Outstanding Coaches Of Our Time. Bendel Insurance squad of 1978 will scoop the Evergreen Award, while Ogbomo Aisosa takes home the Referee of the Year accolade.

Special Recognition awards will go to NFF's Chairman of Chairmen, Ibrahim Gusau, former Super Eagles forward Julius Aghahowa, Paul Maduakor of Zenith Sports, Ajasa Owonaru, Percy Odigie, Micah Amanokha, Bawo Laworu and Steven Usiomwanta; the Enigie of Obagie.
