Coach Maude Khumalo has conceded defeat after South Africa lost to Nigeria in Saturday's 2018 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup qualifying game in Benin City, Edo state.

Falconets made Basetsana looked ordinary with a 6-0 thrashing at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, thus completing an 8-0 aggregate victory over the two legs.

Strikers Gift Monday, Rasheedat Ajibade and Anam Imo netted two goals each as South Africa lost their bid for a maiden U20 World Cup appearance.

Khumalo who congratulated Nigeria for qualifying for the mundial, said her players lost concentration and failed to stick to the game plan.

"First, I will like to congratulate Nigeria. It is never easy playing a game away, especially against a team with a lot of experience," Khumalo told Goal.com

"I'm not really disappointed because we managed to create some chances but we lost a lot of concentration and didn't stick to our game plan.

“We gave our best but it was unfortunate the more experienced side won at the end of the day. As a coach, you need to have a lot of options and there was no reason for us to sit back because we are trailing by 2-0. So we needed to go out there to attack as much as we can."

With the win, Nigeria joins Ghana who defeated Cameroon 4-1 on aggregate, to the women's world cup finals billed for France 5th to 24th, as Africa's representatives.
