Reigning African Women Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala has expressed confident that a new manager for the Super Falcons will soon be announced.

The Falcons have been without a coach over a year following the dismissal of interim boss and former player Florence Omagbemi.

The team have remained inactive since winning the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon, which has drawn negative reactions from lovers of the women's game in Nigeria.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Oshoala said the country's football federation are working round the clock to get a new coach for the Super Falcons after American Randy Waldrum rejected their offer.

"I've had an honest conversation with the president of the Nigeria football federation (Amaju Pinnick) about this," she said.

"He's been very positive and in a couple of weeks we will definitely have someone to lead the team."

The Dalian Quanjian star also stated that the NFF needs to arrange more matches for the senior women's side after a friendly game with France was confirmed.

"It's a good one, a big step for us and good news for women's football in Nigeria generally but it's not enough.

"It's not about the France game alone, but we need more games like this and we don't have to plead before we get games," she added.

The match against the French ladies have been slated for April 4th in Paris and it will be used as part of the Nigerians preparation for the qualifiers of the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana.

They are also billed to compete in the maiden edition of the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Women's Cup in Côte d'Ivoire in February 2018.
