South Africa junior international Linda Motlhalo has completed a move to National Women's Soccer League outfit Houston Dash from JVW FC.
Motlhalo who is the captain of the country's U20 women's football team, joins the US club on a one-year deal after an impressive outing with the Basetsana during the 2018 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup qualifiers.
She teams up with her compatriot and Banyana Banyana skipper Janine van Wyk at Houston Dash and will also work with her former boss Vera Pauw who coached her at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
“Linda is one of the most promising talents of women’s football at this moment. Her qualities compliment the talent we have on our roster. She will bring variety in our attack and that will bring the best out of the other players. She can balance our team,” said Pauw on the club's website.
“This move will ensure that South African players start to get recognised. Linda deserves this next step in her career. She has proven herself at the Olympics in Rio on a global stage. This contract opens doors for the world of women’s football to get to know her.”
She is expected to leave for Houston Dash in March 2018 after two seasons with JVW FC in South Africa's Sasol League, pending recipient of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate.
She won the 2016 Gauteng Sasol League title with JVW and finished second in the national tournament. Previously she was at High Performance Centre in Pretoria.
