Ghana today came close to qualifying for this year's FIFA U17 Women's World Cup after dismantling Djibouti in a superb fashion.
The Ghanaians put nine goals past their hosts Djibouti at the El Hadj Hassan Gouled Aptidon Stadium to make the return leg, slated for February 18, a mere formality.
Suzzy Dede Teye opened the scoring party for the visitors after 27th minutes before captain Mukarama Abdulai netted two goals in quick session to make a 3-0.
Abigail Tutuwaa got coach Evans Adotey's side fourth goal a minute before the half time break as Ghana feasted on their hapless and clueless opponents.
After the restart of the encounter, Ghana continued from where they left off by scoring five more goals as Djibouti could not march them strength for strength.
Striker Abdulai grabbed her hat-trick on the 46th minute to take her tally to eight goals, thus becoming the leading scorer of the African qualifiers.
Further strikes from Jacqueline Owusu, Fuseina Mumuni, Milot Abena Pokua and Adams Alhassan helped the Black Maidens compounded the woes of the East African nation.
The Maidens who are seeking a sixth successive U17 Women's World Cup ticket, are now guaranteed qualification to the mundial in Uruguay with the nine-goal advantage.
