Nigeria will not participate in the U17 FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time since its inception in 2008 after falling to Cameroon in the African qualifiers.

Nigeria's hopes of sealing a place at the showpiece in Uruguay, was left hanging on the balance following a 2-2 draw with their Cameroonian counterparts in the first leg, final round qualifiers two weeks ago.

The Flamingoes were knocked out of the race on away goals decision after playing another draw, 1-1 with the Junior Lionesses of Cameroon at the Ahmaduo Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé last Sunday.

Alice Kameni put the hosts in front after 16 minutes, a lead they held onto at half time and it became difficult for the Nigerian side to turn around the game.

Nigeria, however, managed to pull one goal back through Precious Vincent in the second half but it meant nothing as Cameroon held their nerves to settle for the stalemate, which guaranteed their place at the finals.

At the Cape Coast Stadium, Ghana sealed their qualification to the global cadet women's football event in superb fashion, with a 10-0 win over Djibouti.

Captain Mukarama Abdulai scored four goals in the return leg qualifier, as the Black Maidens completed a huge 19-0 aggregate victory over the Djiboutians.

Mukarama's goalscoring prowess saw her finishing as the continental qualifying campaign highest scorer with 12 goals.

Fuseina Mumuni, Nina Norshie, Victoria Teye, Berikisu Rahaman and Azuma Bugrie accounted for the other goals as coach Evan Adotey's side flew high in flying colours.

Elsewhere, Sibulele Holweni's strike on the 68th minute handed South Africa a slim 1-0 win over Morocco on Saturday at the Boubker Aamar Stadium in Sale.

The victory saw Batwana completing a 6-1 defeat of the Moroccans home and away, after winning the reserve fixture at the Dobsonville Stadium by 5-1.

So Cameroon, Ghana and South Africa will represent the continent when the U17 Women's World Cup is played between November 13 and December 1, 2018 in Uruguay.
