The transfer of female footballers from one club to another in Ethiopia will now be cross-check, after the country football body adopted the FIFA Domestic Transfer Matching System.

The DTMS which is also applicable to the men's game, will protect clubs from fraud transfers as the Ethiopian Football Federation aims to develop their local league to one of the best on the continent.

The new development sees EFF becomes the fourth African nation to adopt the system, a move the federation's IT Expert, Michael Emiru hailed as timely.

"Ethiopian Football Federation adopted the FIFA Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS) for men's football starting October 2017 and for women's since February 2018.

"DTMS will help us improve transfers management and governance by building on existing International Transfer Matching System (ITMS)," Emiru told Soka25East.com

He added: "The system will protect our clubs from fraud transfers and at the same time give a well-organized platform for the players to defend themselves in cases of disagreements over transfer related issues.

"Through the system both the federation and clubs will now have the ability to manage and monitor their domestic transfer activities and generate statistics and reports, speed up the transfer process and store required documents online safely."
