Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs came together with South Africa's biggest beer brand Carling Black Label and the Premier Soccer League in support of the #NoExcuse movement against women abuse.
The South African Premier Soccer League clubs faced off in a Soweto Derby on Saturday after a group of women pre-selected, had performed the rendition of the popular "Mas'hambe Nono" song.
The song was aimed at creating awareness to the kind of abuse many women face on a daily basis in the hands of their partners in the country.
And the song tells the story of how a woman is abused and maltreated by her partner who is upset after his team had lost a football game and emphasis on the message of the #NoExcuse were raised.
The two clubs showed their supports against Gender Based Violence (GBV) by wearing #NoExcuse branded armbands during the entire game at the FNB Stadium.
Orlando Pirates and Kaizers Chief also took a post-match group photo in solidarity to the awareness of getting South African men to kick against women abuse.
Speaking at the FNB Stadium, Vice President Marketing, SAB and ABInBev Africa, Andrea Quaye said: "When we launched the #NoExcuse movement, we wanted to embark on a 365 days a year approach. We have worked with both Kaizers Chief and Orlando Pirates for the past seven years and bringing them with us on this journey against women abuse is something that we felt would help us reach out to more men.
"We want the whole country to stand up and for men around South Africa to know that there is No Excuse for gender-based violence as well as take action to combat this social ill,"said Quaye.
The activities put together by Carling Black Label, in partnership with Takuwani Riime, was aimed at shining a spotlight on issues of Gender-Based Violence, driving awareness, creating meaningful and constructive conversations and providing tools for people to take positive actions.
