Yesterday, Chelsea Ladies fell short in their quest to qualify for their first-ever UEFA Women's Champions League final after losing at home to bitter opponents Wolfsburg.

Chelsea went down 3-1 to Wolfsburg in their UWCL semifinal first leg encounter at the Kingsmeadow stadium after getting off to a bright start.

South Korean star Ji So-Yun gave the Blues a second-minute lead when she scored from Fran Kirby's cross, however, things went down the hill for the English club.

Few minutes after going behind, Wolfsburg drew level through Sara Bjork Gunnarsdottir who headed home before Maren Mjelde netted an own goal to give the German champions a 2-1 lead at half time.

Wolfsburg put the icing on the cake, leaving Chelsea in a tight corner ahead of the return leg when Lara Dickenmann hit the net on the 66th minute.

In the other clash, defending champions Lyon fired blank in their match against another English side Manchester City at the Academy Stadium in Manchester.

The game which ended in a barren draw after the two teams failed to convert their goalscoring chances, saw Lucy Bronze of Lyon and City's Demi Stokes booked on the 26th and 63rd minutes respectively.

The deciding fixtures will be played next Sunday, April 29 where the semifinalists will be pushing for tickets to the final which comes up on May 24 at the Valeriy Lobanovskiy Dynamo Stadium in Ukraine.
