History have been made in Chile after their women's national football team qualified for their first-ever FIFA Women's World Cup in grand style.
Chile took on Argentina in the last round of the Copa America Femenina on Sunday and claimed a comfortable 4-0 win over their opponents.
The Chileans came into the encounter needing a victory to secure their spot in the world cup finals by picking up South America's second and final automatic ticket to France 2019.
An own goal by Argentine defender Agustina Barroso combined with early strikes from Camila Saez and Maryorie Hernandez gave the Chileans a commanding 3-0 lead at half time.
Francisca Lara capped off the game for Chile with a second-half injury time goal to send their supporters into wild jubilation of an unforgettable moment.
The defeat, however, means Argentina will now engage in a play-off against CONCACAF's fourth-placed team later this year to stand a chance of making it the world cup finals.
Elsewhere, 40-year-old veteran Miraildes Maciel Mora, better known as Formiga was on the scorer-sheet as Brazil retained their title for a third successive year with a 3-0 defeat of Colombia.
Brazil who recently booked their place in next year's women's soccer global event, blew away their opponents with defender Mõnica scoring other goals.
The win also sees Brazil qualifying for the women's football event of the 2020 summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, while Chile takes on an African opponent in the play-off tie
