FIFA secretary general Fatma Samoura will have no case to answer for an alleged conflict interest after the world football governing body conducted an investigation.

Earlier this week, BBC Sport revealed that Samoura was a subject of a complaint after members of FIFA's World Cup bid evaluation task force said she had an undeclared family link with Morocco 2026 bid ambassador El Hadji Diouf.

The 55-year-old Samoura, who is a native of Senegal has described the allegations as "totally ridiculous and baseless."

The motive behind the launched complaint is not cleared but Samoura will not be investigated after FIFA ethics committee contacted her and the matter is now closed.

In the meantime, FIFA boss Gianni Infantino has shown his support for Samoura, a spokesman told The Associated Press: "The FIFA president retains full confidence in Fatma Samoura."

Morocco hopes to become the second African nation after South Africa to host the colourful and glamorous World Cup finals in 2026.
