Coach Chih looks on during an interview

Algerian coach Azzedine Chih has named his 21-man member squad for their 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ethiopia, which includes four overseas-based players.

The team will assemble in Camp on May 29 for a competitive training programme which will run through to June 7 in Bilda, according to an official statement on the country's football federation website.

They have been in camp since May 19 for a pre-competitive course which held at the National Technical Center of Sidi-Moussa in Algiers with the involvement of 18 players and it ended last Saturday.

Making the headlines of the invited players is gifted Rayane Brahimi who graduated from the U17 and U23 levels to the senior women's squad in 2013 along with Sidhoun Assia, Chebel Imane, Belkacemi Lydia and Benlazar Myriam Yasmine of Canada and France bases.

Coach Chih whose side is aiming to be among the countries that will compete for the ultimate prize when the tournament is played in Ghana later this year, have a high-and-free scoring Ethiopian team to contend with.

Algeria last played at the AWCON in the 2014 edition in Namibia, though, they exited at the group stage where a lack of luck and inexperience counted against them, having had a brilliant outing.

In 2016, they failed to qualify for the finals in Cameroon after losing out in the qualification campaign, but this time around the Algerian side are well motivated to go through.

They beat Senegal 3-2 home and away in the previous round of the continental qualifiers, while Ethiopia hammered a hapless and clueless Libya 15-0 on aggregate.

The overall winners will book a spot in the eight-nation Africa women's soccer mundial in Ghana, where the top three teams qualifies to represent the continent at the 2019 FIFA Women World Cup in France.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has assigned Issa Touray of Gambian as the match referee for the first leg tie on June 6 in Algiers and she will be assisted by her compatriots Abbie Lesay and Jainaba Monnah.

Dorsaf Ganouati from Tunisia will serve as the officiating referee for the return leg on June 10 at the Addis Ababa Stadium, with her countrywoman Afina Houda and Egypt's Mona Mahamoud Atallah working as her assistants.
