NBA world have been stunned following the trade-deal involving San Antonio Spurs star Kwahi Leonard and DeMar DeRozan of Toronto Raptors.
The deal which was made official by the two teams on Wednesday, sees Leonard and Danny Green move to Raptors in exchange for DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and a protected 2019 first-round draft pick.
Leonard who managed just nine games last season after recovering from a hip injury, had fallen out with the Spurs for several months.
The 27 years old who still have a year on his contract with the Spurs, was recently suggested by the media that he plans to sign for Los Angeles Lakers when he becomes a free agent in 2019.
Leonard, a two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, helped the Spurs to winning the 2014 NBA title and was named the Most Valuable Player.
He spent seven seasons at the Spurs, averaging 16.3 points and was previously involved in trade talks with Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics before Raptors emerged as top suitor.
On the other hand, DeRozan, a career 19.7 point-per game scorer has been playing in the NBA for nine years with Toronto Raptors.
He was Raptors outscoring player in the last five seasons. He played a vital role in helping the team win 59 games which secured their number one spot in the Eastern Conference.
However, the team lost to Cavaliers Cleveland in the best-of-seven games series in the second round and they decided massive changes were needed, which led to the dismissal of coach Dwane Casey.
DeRozan who has three years and $83m left on his deal, is a four-time All Star who was drafted by the Raptors with the ninth pick in 2009.
