Ex-Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amuneke has been appointed head coach of the Taifa Stars of Tanzania on a two-year deal.
Amuneke was unveiled at a press conference by the TFF president Wallace Kaira on Monday in the country's capital city, Dar es Salaam.
According to Karia, the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner will be assisted by local trainers as the Taifa Stars seeks to qualify for next year's AFCON.
“Amuneke will be with us for two years but the contract is renewable if he meets the set targets,” said Karia.
"We shall have coaches for the other teams, but Amuneke will be the head starting with the 2019 African U-17 qualifiers which kick-off in Dar es Salaam this weekend.
"We are happy to have Amuneke who has played at the top and has a lot of experience as a coach. We have picked our very own from Africa."
The former Sporting Libson and Barcelona attacker replaces Sulam Mayanga who had been in charge of the national side since 2017.
The 47 years old previously coached Al Hazim of Saudi Arabia as an assistant and managed Sudanese club Al Khartoum Al Watan, Nigeria's U17 team as well as Julius Berger and Ocean Boys of Nigeria.
Amuneke who was part of the Nigerian squad at the 1994 FIFA World Cup in USA, represented his country 27 times, scoring nine goals in the process.
