President of Kenya Football Federation, Nick Mwendwa have confirmed the country's withdrawal from hosting the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations.
Kenya who lost out to Equatorial Guinea during the AWCON qualifiers, had earlier indicated their interest in hosting the eight-team tournament later this year.
They made their interest known after the Confederation of African Football stripped Ghana off the hosting rights following the bribery and corruption scandals that hit its football association.
But Mwendwa have now revealed they are no longer interested in taking responsibility for biennial event, citing the readiness of only one stadium.
"Kenya have withdrawn interest in hosting 2018 AWCON. We had expressed our interest in hosting the competition after learning that Ghana will not be able to host," Mwendwa said on KweséESPN
"Unfortunately, we seem to have only the Kasarani Stadium ready to host the competition, and yet two stadiums are required.
"We informed CAF on Saturday of the development and they also replied."
Aside Kasarani Stadium, the Nyayo Stadium which had been chosen as potential host venue, is currently undergoing renovation and the work will not be completed on time.
In the meantime, defending champion Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, Mali and Algeria have since qualified for the finals.
