Through their official website, Besiktas Women Basketball team have confirmed the signing of Nigerian female basketballer Evelyn Akhator.
Akhator, the Dallas Wings NBA draft joins Besiktas on a 12-month deal, which will see the D'tigress star play in the Turkish Women's Basketball League.
The move comes as a big boost of morale for the 23-year-old who is currently with women's national basketball team in Atlanta, USA, preparing for 2018 FIBA World Women's Cup in Spain.
She was drafted by the Dallas Wings as the third overall pick in the 2017 Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Draft and averaged 12.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game playing for Russia's Dynamo Novosibirsk.
She graduated from Kentucky University in the United States, where she played 34 games for the school during the 2016-17 season, averaging 15.8 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.
Akhator played a significant role in helping Nigeria to winning the 2017 FIBA Women's AfroBasketball in Mali, the D'tigress first continental title since 2005.
