Cameroon's Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mkpatt, who is also president of the local organizing committee, recently started a round-up trip of the inspection of all the hosting sites of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Having been to the North region of the country at the Garoua site, Mkpatt on Wednesday, alonsigde the Centre Region Governor, were at the Olembe site home of the Paul Biya Stadium.

He was led in the various areas of the construction site managed by Italian company Group PICCINI and reminded the workers of the recommendations given by CAF Experts during their last inspection visit.

"We must be in solidarity, complementary, and proactive following this great event. The accent must also be put on the security facilities and highly on the playing surfaces", he said at the end of the visit.

Group PICCINI through its head of working unit Benoit Favre at the Olembe site  reassured that the stadium will be ready before December 31st.

"The roof is at 50%, but the frame is almost ready. We just have some junctions still to be made. We will be finishing it by mid-November.

"Concerning the seats, we want first to get over with the roof because it does not make sense to put the seats while the roof is not ready.

"The finishing works in the presidential zone wil begin by November 1st and at the same time we will start with the playing surface."

All the delegation went on satisfied with the progress of the work and will now move on to the Douala Japoma site for the next visit.

The final inspection visit by the African football governing body, CAF will take place in Cameroon by the beginning of November.
