Nigeria's D'Tigers remained on course to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup for the first time since 2006, with a convincing 84-73 win over Côte d'Ivoire yesterday.

D'Tigers who took their lead to 7-0 after defeating Rwanda, Malawi and Uganda in the First Round qualifiers, stayed unbeaten with the victory over the Ivorains.

The Nigerian side began the contest on high, winning the first-three quartets by 21-19, 20-13, 23-16, though, they lost the fourth quarter 25-20.

It was an impressive performance and an important win for the team, which Al-Farouq Aminu says they are on mission to make their families proud.

"We are doing this for the name in front of our jerseys. We want to make our families proud," Aminu is quoted saying on FIBA

Nigeria will be in action again on Saturday against the Central African Republic.
