D'Tigers of Nigeria yesterday became the first team to qualify for next year's FIBA Basketball World Cup in China after they outplayed the Central African Republic 114-69.
It was D'Tigers eighth consecutive victory in the African qualifiers, which saw the team remained unbeaten and it boosted their confidence ahead of the main event in Asia.
The Nigerian side who began their second round qualifying campaign with a win over Côte d'Ivoire on Friday, had six players on double-digits in the comprehensive defeat of CAR.
Inspired by Ike Iroegbu who contributed 18 points and was consolidated with Ike Nwamu and Ben Uzoh's 16 points apiece in the rout.
Al-Farouq Aminu who was instrumental against the Ivorians, provided 12 points, Stan Okoye and Alade Aminu joined in the party by adding 11 points each as D'Tigers cruised to the emphantic win.
Regardless of the result of their outstanding games, the D'Tigers top Group F with a huge margin after their previous successes over Rwanda, Malawi and Uganda.
