Liberia's president George Weah was in action in a friendly match for his country with Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday evening in Monrovia.

Playing for the first time at the age of 51 since retiring from the game 15 years ago, Weah showed some glimpses of fleet-footworks, though, Liberia lost out 2-1 to Nigeria.

Everton's on-loan striker at Galatasaray, Henry Onyekuru put the Nigerians in front after 12 minutes before Crotone of Italy forward Simeon Nwankwo increased their lead on the half-hour mark.

The Lone Stars of Liberia pulled one back at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Stadium through Kpah Sherman who slotted home from the spot after Rotherham defender Semiu Ajayi had conceded a penalty.

The match was put together to celebrate the former AC Milan and Chelsea player and to retire the number 14 jersey that made him famous in Africa and in the world during his active days.

He became his country's number one citizen following a landslide victory in last December presidential run-off elections.
