Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is hoping Everton youngster Ademola Lookman will join the growing list of players that have switched their international allegiances to Nigeria.

The Nigeria Football Federation previously have successfully convinced former England youth internationals Sone Aluko, Victor Moses, Shola Ameobi, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina to play for the Eagles.

Ademola, currently a member of England's Young Lions, with whom he helped win the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup, has been targeted by NFF for two years.

And despite representing England at the junior level, the 21-year-old is still eligible to wear the green-white-green jersey of Nigeria, the country of his parents.

"He plays for the youth now but we hope he can change his mind and play for us," Rohr said on BBC Sport

"He's a player we know can add something to the team.

"Getting a player to change his national choice is not easy, quick and the process is never so straightforward.

"First we must be sure he wants to come. And hope to get it cleared by Fifa.

"Then the most important part is that he brings something new, different and better than we have."

He had an impressive loan spell at German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig last term but he is struggling for playing time with Everton this season.

He joined the Toffees in January 2017 from Charlton Athletic, where he netted 12 times in 49 appearances.
