It was a sweet revenge for Esperance Tunis after defeating Al Ahly 3-0 in superb style to win this year's CAF Champions League

Coach Moïn Chaabani and his side were beaten 3-1 in the reversed leg in Alexandria, a game full of controversy following the awarding of two penalties to the Egyptians and the accusations raised over Al Ahly's Moroccan forward Walid Azarou who intentionally tore his shirt to earn a penalty.

The 28-time Tunisian champions were on a streak of 10 winless games against Al Alhy and being given little hope of overturning the deficit suffered a week ago in the first leg. They did not also want to be runners-up again after losing four previous finals.

Esperance entered the game with a lot of envy and determination, creating many chances and forcing keeper Mohammed El Shenawy to make important saves on multiple occasions.

Tunisia international midfielder Sâad Bguir broke the deadlock with a well finished strike at the very end of the first half, thus giving the home team a 1-0 lead at the break.

The former Stade Gabésien player then doubled the lead on the 54th minute before Anice Badri sealed the game with his 8th goal of the competition, making him the top-scorer of this year's event.

Following this 3rd continental trophy, Esperance will be representing Africa at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
