Manchester City Women have announced the contract termination of Denmark international forward Nadia Nadim, thus ending an eleven-month stay at the Academy Stadium.

The Afghanistan-born player joined City in January and went on to score eight goals in 28 matches in all competition for the Women's Super League outfit.

However, the 30-year-old found her playing time at the club limited and so, she handed in a transfer request to City in July, telling BBC Sport that she did not feel at home in England.

"I've never felt home either in Manchester or Man City. I have made it very clear to the management that I want out, and this is something I've felt for a long time."

But now, through an official statement on their website the former Portland Thorns of USA attacker will leave the club "following discussions with relevant stakeholders."

The 2017 beaten Women's European Championships finalist with her mother and sisters fled their country because of war and took refuge in a camp in Denmark where she started playing football.

She was noticed and was handed a debut call-up to the Danish women's national team in 2009 and since then, she has clocked up 85 appearances scoring 29 times in the process.
