Striker Chiwendu Ihezuo believes the future of Nigeria's Super Falcons looks bright following their participation at the recently held four-nation invitational tournament in China.

Fresh from winning a ninth Africa Women Cup of Nations title last year in Ghana, the Super Falcons took part in the four-day tourney in preparation for this summer's FIFA World Cup in France.

Falcons began their campaign with a 3-0 loss to hosts China but got back to winning ways by thrashing Romania 4-1 at the Wuhua Olympic Sports Stadium last Sunday to finish third.

Ihezuo, Onome Ebi, Rita Chikwelu and Ini Umotong found the net, as the Nigerian side claimed the emphantic victory over their European opponents.

The Kazakhstani-based player believes playing at the invitational tournament has had a positive impact on she and her teammates ahead of the women's world cup finals.

"It was great opportunity giving to me and I really thank God for the goal," the former Nigeria U17 and U20 star began on CAF's official website.

"The tournament was a good test for us and it is going to help us in the future as we prepare for the World Cup."

After been frozen out of the national team since 2015, Ihezuo of BIIK Kazygurt was recalled back to the Super Falcons and she was one the players that converted their spot kicks when Nigeria beat South Africa on penalties to emerged queens of the continent.

The 21-year-old started playing for her country in 2012 at the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan where she scored six goals to win the Silver Boot of competition.

The former Pelican Stars and Delta Queens forward is a two-time league winner in Kazakhstan and has competed in the prestigious UEFA Women's Champions League.
