Banyana Banyana sensational Leandra Smeda continues to up her game in women's football having completed a move to Swedish topflight outfit Vittsjo GIK.

Smeda joins Vittsjo, her second european club, after spending six months at FK Gintra-Universitetas of Lithuania, where she became the first South African to score in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

The 29-year-old who was part of South Africa's women national team at the 2018 Nations Cup in Ghana, is 'excited about the move,' and has branded the Damallsvenskan a good league.

"I’m excited about the move to Sweden. And I’m looking forward to a new challenge," Smeda is quoted saying on GSport.

"Sweden has a really good league, it’s one of the best women’s football leagues in the world."

The former UWC player who is currently with Banyana Banyana preparing for this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup in France, revealed how she got the contract.

"I'm signed to LTA agency, so my agent came with the offer early January," she explained.

She will be hoping to make her debut in the Damallsvenskan when Vittsjo GIK takes on KIF Örebro on Sunday, April 4, 2019 at the Behrn Arena.
