Mauritania Football Federation wants to build on the Africa Cup of Nations success of their men's side by having its first women's national team.
The FFRIM wants to popularise women's football in the northwest African nation and have put in place structural plans to develop the women's game.
This comes on the heels of the country's historic AFCON qualification under the guidance of 49-year-old former France international Corentin Martins.
"We have managed to reconcile the general public with men's football, the objective now is to unite this same public with the women's game," Ffrim said in a statement on
BBC Sport.
"Ffrim is committed to the development of women's football, not only on the pitch but also the involvement of women in decision-making bodies within the federation.
"Our mission is in line with Fifa's objective to advocate for football accessibility to the greatest number of young girls and women around the world."
Abdallahi Diallo has been named coach of the Mauritanian women's national team, while a Department for Women's Football has been created.
The country's football body also plans to set up domestic leagues at both professional and youth levels as well as training of female coaches and administrators.
