Interim head coach of South Africa U17 women's football side, Simphiwe Dludlu have said the Bantwana is still a work in progress team as they prepare to face Bostwana this weekend.

The team returned to camp on Tuesday, December 12 at the University of Johannesburg Grounds in Soweto after one-week break to intensify their readiness for the second leg, first round 2018 U17 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifiers.

The South Africans will go into the clash billed for the Dobsonville Stadium on December 16 with the upper hand, having defeated their opponents from Bostwana 5-2 in the reserve fixture a fortnight ago.

Dludlu who is left with 23 players after Sibulele Holweni of Sophakama Ladies missed her flight, said the young girls looked good upon their resumption and they are rearing to go.

“They are looking good, but not as sharp as I would like them to because they had a week’s break and some have taken longer to get back into the action," Dludlu tells SAFA.net

"In our first training session we tried to do a lot of coordination and reminded them that we are back to the game again. We haven’t started with the hard work but we already have a proper structure as to what we want to do to prepare for Saturday.

“I was impressed with the way they welcomed each other, you could see they are excited to be back together – that is an indication that there are more relationships being built – that’s what I want because a happy team means we can get some work done, so far we are still work in progress.”

South Africa will be bidding to qualify for their second U17 world cup finals after their maiden appearance at the 2010 edition hosted by Trinidad and Tobago.
