Atlanta 1996 Olympics gold medalist Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara has been promoted to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, by the Police Service Commission.
Ajunwa-Okpara, Nigeria's only individual gold winner till date was decorated at an event which took place at the Police College in Ikeja, Lagos state.

The PUNCH, the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force confirmed her promotion from a Chief Superintendent of Police to the ACP on Wednesday.
This comes only a week after the former Super Falcons player launched a foundation named the Chioma Ajunwa-Okpara Foundation with the aims to unearth new stars that will take the country to new heights.
The 47-year-old who happens to become the first black woman to win gold in a field event of the Olympic Games, is currently serving at the Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos.
“The former gold medalist has been promoted to the rank of ACP . She is with the PTS," Lagos state Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti said, while confirming her promotion.
