Mikel who will lead Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup in Russia is confident that playing in CSL will not affect his performances for his country.
He was restricted to 13 matches in his debut season in China due to injury but the he ready to go for the Eagles having featured for the team in their world cup qualifiers.
"Playing in the CSL will help me maintain my status for the World Cup. The standard of CSL is quite high," he continued.
"Before people might have thought it was slow, but now it’s very quick. I have no doubt playing in this league will help me stay in shape.
“Of course, there is still a gap between the CSL and the English Premier League but the CSL is improving. To play more games will be good and I hope I don’t get injured.”
